Your users and customers are located around the globe, and they expect a consistent, pleasing online experience. Latency and availability issues can drive down user satisfaction. Or worse, they can drive users away, resulting in lost revenue opportunities. It has been widely reported that users expect web pages to load in two seconds, and after three seconds, up to 40% of users will abandon your site or application.
To meet your customer’s expectations, user-facing applications should ideally be deployed in multiple locations globally (anywhere from a handful to tens of locations), while ensuring that a user is directed to an application front-end that is closest to them. Supporting this initiative requires you to extend your application infrastructure and platform tooling to deliver your applications, configurations, metadata, secrets, etc. to all these locations. Successful execution depends on the right expertise, knowledge and team size. The fact is, this is a very complex and expensive undertaking for any organization.
