A New Chapter for Rafay Systems, and Kubernetes Operations

Today marks an exciting new chapter for Rafay, as we announce a $25 million Series B funding round led by Alberto, Leo and team at ForgePoint Capital. Our existing investors Ridge Ventures, Costanoa Ventures and Moment Ventures also participated in the round. It’s great to be partnering with investors who share our vision for the future of cloud-native infrastructure.

What’s even more exciting for Team Rafay is how the new round of funding is going to enable us to engage with even more enterprises. Having helped a number of enterprises implement operational best practices, we now have the resources to make orders of magnitude more enterprises successful with their application modernization initiatives.

Our vision is practical and based on close working relationships with enterprise customers and partners. They all have been consistent in their feedback: the Kubernetes market needs to go beyond Kubernetes cluster management to helping Operations/SRE teams manage the complete lifecycle of both the Kubernetes infrastructure as well as modern applications, while delivering a high degree of visibility, operational security and governance.

Gartner predicts that by 2022, more than 75% of global organizations will be running containerized applications in production, up from less than 30% in 2020. But the operational cost, complexity and resources required to manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes infrastructure and modern applications is out of control.

Until now, enterprises have been forced to invest in DIY initiatives to manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes infrastructure and modern applications. Generation-1 Kubernetes solutions offered cluster management capabilities, but enterprises needed to put together a number of point solutions to deliver the automation, security, visibility and governance needed to keep up with the pace of app modernization. The time, headcount and resources that enterprises need to invest to get these DIY initiatives right is staggering.

So today, in addition to announcing our latest round of funding, we are introducing something that, I dare say, is ground-breaking.

Rafay’s Vision for Kubernetes Operations

Rafay sees, and is acting on, the pressing need to extend beyond traditional Kubernetes management into a Kubernetes Operations mindset. This holistic approach unifies the lifecycle management of both Kubernetes infrastructure and modern applications, and delivers a broad set of automation, security, visibility and governance capabilities needed by enterprise platform and operations teams. Instead of reinventing the same Kubernetes Operations wheel at significant cost in terms of time and resources, enterprises can leverage Rafay’s Kubernetes Operations Platform to streamline and accelerate enterprise-wide application modernization initiatives.

With the Rafay Kubernetes Operations Platform, developers, SREs and DevOps teams can triage infrastructure and application issues faster than ever before, significantly reducing reading mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR). Developers, DevOps, operations and security teams can work together to deploy modern applications as much as 4x faster, reduce downtimes by 60% and eliminate security and compliance risk.

Enterprises can take advantage of the benefits of Rafay no matter where they are in their modernization journey. The platform’s operations-centric approach stands alone in the market as it enhances the effectiveness of all tools and processes that comprise today’s modern, containerized application delivery.  It works with any infrastructure (e.g., in data centers, public clouds such as AWS, Azure, and GCP or at remote/Edge locations), and can help enterprises operate managed Kubernetes services, such as Amazon EKS and Microsoft AKS, along with packaged offerings such as RedHat OpenShift.

Rafay’s new funding will accelerate our strategic vision and roadmap for the future of Kubernetes Operations, and will enable us to speed up the delivery of capabilities that enterprises need to manage their modern infrastructure.

To say we’re excited is an understatement. Join the movement at rafay.co.
